Optical Properties of a Synthesized Pbs Thin Film Using Chemical Bath Method

The synthesis of PbS thin films was successfully carried out in the laboratory by neutralizing sulphide ions (S²-) and lead ions (Pb²+) from lead nitrate and thiourea compounds (SC(NH₂)₂) in crystalline form. The films were deposited on a glass substrate using the chemical bath method. The optical properties of the films, including absorbance, transmittance, reflectance, and refractive index, were investigated using a UV-visible spectrophotometer (model 6405) and a pH meter. The results showed a high absorbance of 1.105 a.u. in the visible region. The thickness of the films, which ranged from 0.71 µm to 3.34 µm, was found to have a near-linear dependence on the dip time. The study also revealed the following properties of the films: absorbance (0.02-1.105 a.u.), transmittance (0.9%-99%), reflectance (0.11%-98%), and energy band gap (1.6-2.70 eV) within the wavelength range of 400-1000 nm.
